The right systems will save you a lot of time and energy (Learn how to do it)

The single biggest thing I have learnt from being in business is how having the right systems in place can make you significantly more productive. Solid systems in place will also allow you to get the work you need to get done from anywhere. (I’ve been taking business meetings and working from the canary islands this past week).

What is a “System”

A system being a group of interdependent elements working in collaboration to achieve a common goal. The systems in your business are the processes in place which not only run it but ultimately keep it running as smoothly as possible. These are the single most important things which will decide success. They keep consistency, accuracy and efficiency. From my personal experience, having proper systems within your finance and operational processes in place is what upgrades a mediocre operating business to a highly valuable effective business. I aim to use efficient systems in business but also life and they are what keeps me consistent.

Here are my three main rules whilst building systems:

Rule 1: Your time is the most valuable asset – anything which helps you reduce your time spent and achieves the same results is golden.

Rule 2: The systems you build should make it easier for you to remain consistent and continue improving your fundamentals.

Rule 3: The system should be simple enough to be followed easily. They don’t need to be extremely complex. A group of systems can lead to an overall complex structure but each individual system should be simple enough to follow easily.

I implement these 3 key rules across all the systems I create for myself whether that is related to business or general life.

The crazy thing I’ve realised is how many businesses do not have proper systems in place in relation to their finances and general operations. The two areas which can make them at least 2-3x fold more effective in business and they just aren’t setup correctly.
